Free Workshop Series: Building Community with Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging

Thursdays from 4:00-5:30pm | CHES Art Room
August 17th – September 7th

Racial and gendered inequalities have always been present in the construction of, and debates about, education in the United States. How does the system of public education in the United States work to recreate, deconstruct, and complicate these systems of power and oppression?

Join the CHES PTA and Dr. Lauren Steele for a 4-part interactive workshop designed to give you tools to build a more equitable and inclusive Cayuga Heights Elementary School community.

This discussion-based workshop series will bolster skills to explore how education is historically and contemporaneously informed by race and gender politics. Examine the relationships between race, gender, and education to support our commitment to creating a future of belonging for our children. Come away with stronger relationships and understand essential ways to help build our school community. Each workshop meeting will have assigned readings and will be taught in a seminar-style format.

Registration is required by Thursday, August 17th at 12:00pm
